CARE AND MAINTENANCE
Care of newly applied microcement
The danger of scratching, loss of shine and serious soiling of Microcement pavements occurs in the first weeks of life. After 4 weeks, a completed screed has a higher hardness and a better cleanliness than a freshly laid screed. Our microcements require about 4 weeks for complete hardening at room temperature and humidity (20ºC and between 40% to 60% relative humidity).
Care during the first week
Keep the temperature of the homes or premises where the microcement has been applied between 15ºC and 25ºC.
Do not step on the floor or carry out work on recently applied microcement.
Completely avoid leaks, liquid spills and humidity during this period.
Do not wash, wet, clean or attack the flooring under any circumstances.
Do not protect the floor with cardboard or paper during the first 7 days.
Care after the first week
In the case of painting, plumbing, construction, etc… protect the floor with double corrugated cardboard. Do not drop tools and avoid hitting the microcement.
Clean only with water and without abrasive mechanical efforts or detergents of any kind. When cleaning, do not leave accumulated puddles of water.
Protect from spillage of paint, glue or drying liquids, as this may damage the polyurethane varnish.
Care after the first month
It is recommended to apply an acrylic wax every month to help protect it.
Avoid contact with strong solvents, turpentine, hydrochloric acid, hair dyes or any kind of organic or inorganic acids.
In the case of loss of gloss due to wear and tear over time on the floor, you can clean the floor by using a descaling detergent or an anti-grease detergent.
Once finished, you can apply an acrylic wax to revive the shine of the floor. You can also reapply 1 to 2 coats of polyurethane varnish.
Avoid exposing the floor to strong heat permanently. Do not throw unlit cigarettes on the floor. Do not apply near ovens or fireplaces.
In the case of kitchen worktops, do not place hot pots or pans on Microcement. Do not use abrasive products that polish, abrade or scratch.
Do not use solvents or concentrated acids and bases regularly or on a large scale. Do not use abrasive cleaning systems such as metallic or very hard brushes, metal shavings, sandpaper, abrasive discs, etc.
Do not use paint solvents on microcement.
Always avoid knocks or dragging furniture.
Usual cleaning
1. Apply neutral detergent with manual means.
2. Rinsing and absorption of water with a mop or liquid suction system. Never leave puddles of water for a long period of time and this water should always be removed.
Important note: The use of waxes on this type of floor is very beneficial.
Guarantees
CimentArt Microcement SL declares that its Microcement is guaranteed in the following situations, as long as the rules of application are complied with and its technical data sheets are followed to the letter:
Non-cracking guarantee: CimentArt Microcement never cracks. If a crack ever appears on our Microcement it will always be because the support where it has been applied has cracked or fissured. This warranty does not cover structural movements or settlement of the building or house that cause cracks, peeling or chipping of supports where it is applied, or blows, floods or scratches received on its surface or caused by incorrect furniture.
Adherence guarantee: We guarantee that the Microcement CimentArt does not peel or flake off the support where it is applied.
Guarantee of no discolouration: We guarantee that the Microcement CimentArt has no discolouration or apparent changes in colour, over time, even if it is applied outdoors. We recommend the use of pale colours on exteriors.
Application guarantee: The company performing the application will provide the end customer with the warranty. These guarantees are governed and based on the legislation of the European Standards on decorative coatings and have a duration of two years.
CimentArt Microcement SL is a manufacturer of microcement and its derivatives, is not a company of application of microcement, therefore can not be responsible in any case of the applications made by professionals or outside companies that buy our products.
Manufacturing Guarantee: CimentArt Microcement SL offers a one-year guarantee on all its products, as long as they are unopened and stored in an environment without major changes in temperature and ventilation.
All our products are manufactured under the European Standards UNE-EN 197-1:2000 for cements. All our water-based products are BII (non-flammable) and flame retardant (Euroclass BFL S1).
In the event of a complaint and as manufacturers, we undertake to exchange any product that is shown to be defective, sending by email to info@grupocimentart.com the purchase invoice, an explanation of the product defect and attaching a photograph of the batch number and expiry date printed on the sticker on the packaging.
Guarantee of the transport of the product: Our products are not classified as dangerous in terms of transport, according to the directive 67/548 CE and the regulation CE 1272/2008.
CimentArt Microcement SL contracts external transport companies and includes in this contracting an insurance for each shipment. In the same moment that our products are sent to the client, the responsibility of the products purchased and sent becomes the responsibility of the transport company and the final client. Once the products are received at the address of the end customer, the end customer is responsible for verifying at the same time that the shipment is in accordance with the invoice and order placed with CimentArt. Once the customer has signed to the carrier that the shipment receipt is correct, no claims are allowed.
Microcement applied on damp or capillary humidity supports
Microcement cannot be applied on damp walls or floors or on plaster or cement substrates that have just been made. On any floor or wall made with a cement or gypsum-based product (cement mortar, plaster, putty, cement glue, monolayer, concrete, levelling paste, etc.), the normal setting and drying time should be allowed (normally 4 to 8 weeks, depending on the type of product, thickness of the layer, ventilation, humidity and ambient temperature).
Under no circumstances should microcement be applied inside swimming pools, ponds, jacuzzis (areas where water is retained).
Likewise, in areas with humidity, the delay in the definitive hardening can be 4 times longer, causing the Microcement paving or wall to fail to achieve full mechanical resistance, as the natural setting and hardening cycle of the cement as a material itself is cut short.
Furniture
A good selection of the furniture to be placed on a microcement floor is vital.
Never place furniture with pointed or rounded legs, with rigid plastic protectors, etc., as this concentrates all the weight on a single point and can mark the microcement. The legs of chairs, tables or furniture should have a wide, straight finish and should always be fitted with protective felts.
All rigid plastic protectors on legs should ALWAYS be removed and felt should be fitted in their place.
Furniture or electrical appliances should not be dragged on a Microcement floor.
Examples of incorrect feet:
Examples of incorrect leg protectors:
Fit plastic protectors that cover the full movement of chairs or tables with castors or office chairs.
Areas receiving water
In the case of areas that receive water such as showers, kitchen or bathroom countertops, bathtubs, sinks, terraces, etc. ensure that the slopes are well made and there are no puddles or areas where water rests.
CimentArt Microcement SL. offers with the AQUA range (100% waterproof ready-to-use microcement) a guarantee of total waterproofing in areas that receive water (as described in the paragraph above). Traditional bi-component microcement is not recommended in these areas.
CimentArt Microcement SL. is not responsible for the alteration or non-compliance of these rules and the repair of any damage caused and the necessary material will be at the customer’s expense.
